Betr Secures 95 Jobs Following EC Outsourcing’s Closure

Last week, the North East outsourcing industry faced a major setback as EC Outsourcing entered administration, leaving around 120 employees facing job uncertainty.

In response, Betr Outsourcing has acted swiftly to secure roles for approximately 95 of those affected, ensuring they remain in employment.

This rapid response was led by Director of Sales, Cally Heads, and Director of CX & Client Services, James Palmer, both of whom were former EC Outsourcing employees themselves. They played a pivotal role in securing these positions for customer service advisors previously based at Doxford Park’s Solar House.

A Commitment to People

For Cally Heads, the closure of EC Outsourcing was deeply personal:

“Having worked with the team at EC Outsourcing for over 10 years, like most people, I was devastated to hear the news last week. First and foremost, it’s never easy to hear about any business going into administration, especially one that was a big part of my life for so long.

“Myself and the senior management team at Betr wanted to do whatever we could to minimise the effect on the people who stood to lose their employment at EC, and we’re delighted that we’ve been able to provide a solution for so many talented advisers.”

Fast Action to Support Those Affected

Betr Outsourcing’s leadership team worked around the clock to ensure that employees from EC Outsourcing could transition seamlessly into roles at Betr.

“Myself and our leadership team worked around the clock in order to secure a quick resolution that will see many of those affected transfer over to Betr in the same role that they held at EC Outsourcing,” said James Palmer.

“We’ve also taken the additional step to introduce weekly pay for the first few months in order to minimise any financial struggles as a result of the closure.”

Strengthening Betr Outsourcing’s Presence in Sunderland

This move comes on the back of Betr Outsourcing’s impressive growth over the last nine months, further accelerating expansion plans in Sunderland. All newly secured roles will be based in Betr Sunderland, reinforcing the company’s long-term commitment to the region.

Chris McCoulough, Director of Dialler & Data at Betr, also formerly EC Outsourcing, added “The outsourcing industry in the North East accounts for approximately 5% of the UK contact centre industry, with around 7,750 workers based in Tyne and Wear. Betr Outsourcing recognises the importance of hiring locally, as the region is home to some of the best contact centre talent in the country.

“The majority of our colleagues at Betr Sunderland are from Sunderland and the wider Wearside area. It’s incredibly important to us to hire from the local area, which has such a rich history of contact centre excellence.”

Further Opportunities on the Horizon

While 95 jobs have already been secured, Betr Outsourcing continues to grow, with further opportunities expected in the coming weeks and months.

“At Betr, we’re always creating opportunities for our people in Sunderland and in Glasgow,” said the leadership team.

“We’re constantly looking to grow the campaigns we currently have, so further opportunities will be announced soon.”
